Tournament rules
1.00 Sanction and classification
1.01 The Gaspesian Midget Tournament is sanctioned by Hockey Québec and Hockey Canada and only affiliated teams may take part.
1.02 The tournament includes midget CC and midget A categories and only those teams or the equivalent will be accepted.
2.00 Necessary documents
2.01 All teams must supply the following documents:
- The team's player registration form.
- A travel permit from the section or association they belong to.
- The contracts supplied by said section or association and by which the players' signatures may be verified.
- A proof of identity for each player (on request).
- The schedule of the league where they play.
- The score sheet from the team's last five (5) games.
- The tournament's registration form.
3.00 Games
3.01 The teams are assured a minimum of three (3) games.
3.02 Before every game, each player must sign the form supplied by the tournament.
3.03 All games in the preliminary round will consist of a five (5) minute warm up, followed by three (3) twelve (12) minute (stop time) periods. The ice will be resurfaced every two (2) periods of play. When the ice is not resurfaced, there will a two (2) minute intermission between periods.
3.04 The final only in each category will consist of three (3) fifteen (15) minute periods (stop time). The ice will be resurfaced after each period.
3.05 In the preliminary round, there will be no overtime in case of a tie. Two (2) points will be awarded for a win, one (1) for a tie and none (0) for a loss (plus Fair Play points, if applicable).
3.06 Home teams in the preliminary round are predetermined. In playoff rounds, home teams as well as the match ups will be determined by standings.
3.07 In case of a difference of seven (7) goals in a game, the remainder of the game will be played straight time, even if the difference becomes less.
3.08 A thirty (30) second time out is allowed each team, in each game.
3.09 In case of a tie in the standings between two or more teams, all teams who are tied will be subject to the following criteria, until the first team among them is determined.
When first place is determined, the process will be repeated from step A until all positions are determined.
The standings will be determined using the following criteria:
a) the most wins;
b) the fewest losses;
c) the result of the game between the two teams (if applicable);
d) the best plus / minus differential;
e) the team having accumulated the most Fair Play points;
f) the team having scored the earliest goal in all games of the tournament;
g) coin flip.
3.10 In case of a tie in the playoff rounds (except the final), there will be a five (5) minute sudden death overtime period played four against four (plus goaltenders). If the tie remains, there will be a shoot out.
3.11 In the championship finals only, in case of a tie, there will be one (1) ten (10) minute sudden death overtime periods, played four (4) against four (4) (plus goaltenders). If the tie remains, there will be a shoot out.
4.00 Game rules
4.01 Hockey Québec (Hockey Canada) rules will be applied.
4.02 Players must wait until the ice surfacer's doors are closed and the officials are on the ice before going onto the ice. Teams at fault will be assessed a two minute minor penalty.
4.03 At the discretion of the referee, a ten (10) minute misconduct penalty will be assessed along with any other applicable penalties, to player(s) judged to be the instigators or attempting to instigate a fight or an altercation after the whistle.

5.00 Miscellaneous
5.01 Any player or team member displaying prejudicial conduct will be expelled from the tournament.
5.02 Teams are responsible for any damage caused by one of it's members to the installations or equipment used by the tournament.
5.03 The organizing committee reserves the right to decide on matters not covered by the present document, and to add, remove or modify any rule it deems necessary. Teams will be notified in writing. All decisions taken by the committee are final and without appeal.
